Children Without™ facilitates numerous projects, programs and causes that operate directly under, and are affiliated with the organization. Each project, cause or program is unique in its own right but has a tie that binds – the mission of improving the dignity and quality of life for children and youth around the world.
The needs of children and youth are, in many ways, universal and abundant on a global scale. The work of Children Without™ is clear and straight-forward. We serve as a communication portal for deserving and reputable humanitarian projects around the world. We facilitate through the web, media, and feet-on-the-ground for communication between potential donors, volunteers, organizations, and the children who are being served. During her tenure as a Rotary International District Governor in 2004-05, Katy Errington came face to face with the needs of thousands of children living in abject poverty in garbage dumps in Mexico. She had a passion to help these poor and suffering children by encouraging Rotary clubs in the district to raise funds that were used to obtain a matching grant from Rotary International. The funds have been used to provide educational scholarships for children living in one of the garbage dumps. Katy also had a passion for providing wheelchairs to people who desperately needed mobility in their lives. Once again, funds were raised through the district Rotary clubs and 85 wheelchairs were sent to the poorest of the poor in Mexico. It became apparent that a small gift, such as a one year educational scholarship for an impoverished child, or a wheelchair for a needy person without mobility, had a tremendous impact on their quality of life. |
